Kemi Afolabi is a renowned actress and filmmaker in the Yoruba genre of Nollywood. Over the years, she has appeared in over 100 movies giving top-notch performances in all. 

The actress was on the news after revealing that she was diagnosed with Lupus Cancer in early 2022. During her Interview on Chude’s show, she noted that the Doctors said she has 5 years to live. The actress shed tears when revealing her predicament to Chude.

After the news went viral, colleagues in the movie industry solicited funds for her to get good treatment. Some of the notable actors that kick-started the fundraising campaign were Yomi Fabiyi, Shola Kosoko, Mercy Aigbe, Funke Akindele, Akin Olaiya, and a few others.

Funds of thousands of dollars were eventually raised for her treatment abroad and she traveled with her mother in June 2022. Since then, the beautiful actress has been responding to treatment.

What Happened To Kemi Afolabi

In early 2022, she revealed that she has Lupus Cancer, a chronic autoimmune disease in which the immune system attacks healthy body cells and tissues resulting in organ damage.

Her colleagues, supporters, and fans were able to raise funds for her. 

Kemi traveled to Maryland, the US in June 2022 and was accompanied by her beautiful mother. She was in the hospital for weeks and was responding to treatment. The actress has since got better but goes for regular checkups.

On October 10, 2022, Afolabi shared a photo of herself at the hospital, noting that mental health is real and that people should stop messing with other people’s emotions.
