Junior Pope was born May 7, 1984, to Mr and Mrs Odonwodo in Bamenda, Cameroon but is a native of Ukehe in Enugu State. He’s the 6th child of 8 siblings and his parents ran away from the Eastern Part of Nigeria during the civil war to secure their lives.
He had his primary and secondary school education in Bamenda, Cameroon but later moved to Enugu where he attended the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, and bagged a bachelor’s degree in Accountancy.
Growing up in Bamenda was a wonderful experience for him then unlike now that Cameroon is a home of war.
Obumneme has been passionate about acting since secondary school as his girlfriend(then) discovered his talent and even paid N7000 for his registration at the Late Pete Ene theatre group.
At the University, he joined the Joyful Family Group where he honed his acting skills and started going for auditions till he got his first role in 2006.

In April 2023, during his interview with Punch News, the handsome actor affirmed that life wasn’t rosy after his marriage and he had to give Aboki his wife’s jewelry for money. He added that his wife has been so patient with him through the good and bad times and that he can’t do anything to hurt her.
When he was asked how he has been sustaining his marriage despite several marriage crashes in Nollywood, he said it partly depends on his upbringing and that he has been transparent with his wife.
He said in their marriage, they don’t hide any secret from themselves and they check each other’s phones.
Citing an example of his father who is a disciplinarian who enforces rules that he deems final, he said he doesn’t do that, noting that he also allows his wife to have a say in their marriage and make her see reasons why she should follow his decisions.
Junior Pope further noted that despite being the head of the family, he never takes advantage of his wife and vowed that he will run mad anytime he lays his hands on his wife. Also, he stated that every other thing can be worked out in his marriage but it’s only infidelity that can make him quit.
