Over the years, Netizens have perceived a beef between the superstars, Toyin Abraham and Funke Akindele as many attributed it to “Unhealthy Competition” between them since they are both topping as Box Office Queens while also dominating the Nigerian cinema industry.
Toyin Abraham has decided to keep their years of rift aside by celebrating Funke Akindele as the Queen Of Box Office while attributing their profound issues to bloggers who spread fake news about the two superstars to their fans.
Toyin explained that people don’t know the fierce competition that existed to be number one in those days in the Yoruba industry, adding that she doesn’t know if that still exists.
She noted that the fierce competition created camps, enmity, and much professional gossip, adding that the number one cause of fights in the industry then was ‘he said, she said’ before the emergence of social media.
Abraham urged Nollywood people to stop tearing the industry down with their gossip, affirming that they have caused lots of damage with ‘he-said, she-said’.
The filmmaker went down memory lane, saying those days in the Yoruba film industry, Funke Akindele was number one after the likes of Aunty Bukky and Aunty Faithia, and then she came next.
Toyin explained that the competition was much and with much gossip in between, adding that they became competitors before she moved on to the English movie industry and became number one.
Advising young actors, she stated that no one will be number one forever and it doesn’t mean they will fall down the pecking order as it might just be them that will move on to bigger things.
She warned that they don’t own the film industry and that the industry is bigger than them.
Toyin affirmed that in the English industry, she and Aunty Funke continued the rivalry and it pitted their fans against each other.
She added that they are two competitive Virgo women who love to win and sometimes in that process, they splash dirt and mud. But with time, age, and more wisdom, she realized that they could compete without being negatively competitive.
Toyin Abraham celebrated Funke for showing all filmmakers what is possible, affirming that she’s a winner. She also said Funke sold over N 1 billion and made it possible for other women to dream bigger.
Furthermore, she mentioned that Funke Akindele ran them street with that 1B and this year, many of them will move to 1B, praying that God will continue to make her bigger.
Toyin Abraham also appreciated Funke Akindele for making great movies and selling them as her life depended on it.
She affirmed that Funke taught other women to hustle harder, adding that she(Toyin) had set records at the box office records but Aunty Funke came and beat them.
Abraham expressed happiness today because she has challenged her to set higher goals.
She mentioned that they should always compliment each other even in competition at the box office, adding that she owes Funke one post in December.
Also, she prayed that God will make all her dreams come true, adding that she admired and adored her, wishing her all the best.
