Adebayo Salami aka Oga Bello’s name can’t be left behind among the list of legends when we are talking about pioneers in Nollywood, especially the Yoruba movie industry. He’s one of the founding fathers of the Yoruba movie industry and has set the pace for many top new-generation actors and actresses in the movie industry.

He joined the theatre group called Young Concert Party under the aegis of Ojo Ladipo in 1964. The group later changed its name to Awada Kerikeri following the death of its leader, Ojo Ladipo in 1978. 

Oga Bello took up the mantle of authority as the new leader which eventually brought him into the limelight.

His first appearance was in the Yoruba movie, Ajani Ogun, produced by the late Adeyemi Afolayan. Then he starred in a movie called Kadara and Comedy series titled Comedy Half Hour with his stage name, Oga Bello.

Salami produced his first movie, Ogun Ajaye in 1985 and since then, he has directed, produced, and starred in scores of movies.
