Alhaja Laide Shakirat Bakare who’s popularly known as Laide Bakare is a renowned veteran actress, filmmaker, humanitarian, author, entrepreneur, producer, and the CEO of Simline International Production.

She was one of the top actresses that graced our TV screens in the early 2000s. 

The actress kick-started her acting career in Muka Ray’s movie titled, “Adeyemi” in 1999 and since then, she has been consistent and diligent in her craft.

On March 14, 2023, she released a disclaimer noting that her attention was drawn to fake and malicious news circulating social media alleging that she sent her nude pictures to her so-called lover, which was later released to the public.

She affirmed that she initially wanted to ignore the false and sensational story. However, in the interest of her family, friends, and fans who were concerned and embarrassed by the lies, she publicly stated that the news was false and was orchestrated by wicked and mindless people.

She warned that she would take legal action if such rumors surfaced online again.

In February 2024, Laide Bakare had a back-and-forth with Portable when she affirmed that he was a dirty boy in an interview with Biola Adebayo at her show, “Biola Adebayo’s Show”. 

Portable slammed back at her noting that she was angry because he didn’t come to perform at her event for free.

She faced heavy criticism after her book launch in March 2024, as netizens slammed her for her choice of outfit, noting that she had to change her stylist.

Following the criticism, Laide affirmed that people didn’t see her human hair of N1.8 million to talk about but chastised her for her choice of outfit.

Laide trended in February 2024 after a boxing challenge was organized for her with Nollywood actress, Chizzy Alichi where they showcased their boxing skill. The duo have had series of banters on Instagram before the challenge in the boxing ring.

Laide Bakare was born on October 7, 1980, to Mr and Mrs Bakare in Ibadan and is a native of Oyo State. Her father is a hotelier and building contractor and her mother is a businesswoman.

After her secondary school education, she obtained a bachelor’s degree in History and Strategy Studies from the University of Lagos and later bagged a diploma certificate in Theatre Arts from the University of Ibadan.

The actress wanted to dive into politics although she doesn’t like Nigerian politics. She developed an enthusiasm for acting after seeing actors perform whenever they lodged in her father’s hotel.

Her parents were in full support of her acting career. Her mother cooked food for her cast and crew on her first production.

The beautiful actress later got married to Alhaji Tunde Orilowo and welcomed her first son, Damilare, and second son Mosope with him.
