The death of late veteran actress and filmmaker, Cynthia Okereke left many shocked earlier today. She died at 63.

It’s a year since she was kidnapped alongside veteran actor Clemson Cornel while returning from the movie set in Enugu State.

The circumstance that led to her death is unknown but according to a popular filmmaker and actor, Joseph Okechukwu, she died Tuesday evening, July 11, 2023.

Joseph noted that he was supposed to pay for her ticket to America for a project but hearing of her demise struck him hard. He explained that she was nice and loving and had known her for over 20 years.

Furthermore, Nollywood celebrities mourn her death. She’s an easygoing person just like other late actors like Don Brymo, and Sam Obiago as they questioned why good people live in the world.

Cynthia is a veteran actress and filmmaker who is well known for playing motherly roles in movies. She was born on April 20, 1960, in Enugu and resided there before she passed on. Cynthia made her first appearance in 1998 in the movie, “King Jaja Of Opobo” but her groundbreaking performance in the movie “Osuofia in London” brought her into the limelight. Since then, she has appeared in over 100 movies.

Okereke is a mother figure to many in the movie industry as she’s loved for her simplicity and free-spirited nature. In June 2022, She made headlines after she was kidnapped alongside veteran actor, Clemson Cornell. 

According to the late actress, they were starved for a week before they were released. The incident had a psychological effect on her and it took her months to get herself back.

What led to her death is unknown but there are speculations that she died while sleeping.
