Oladipupo Olabode Oladimeji aka Oladips passed away on Tuesday evening, November 14, 2023, after the management rushed him to the hospital. His death was announced Wednesday morning, November 15, 2023, on his official Instagram page, triggering outrage on social media.
Oladip’s death came as a rude shock to many as top celebrities paid tribute to him. After his death, his management said he had been battling for over 2 years without specifically mentioning a particular illness. They also said his family is now with his corpse and will soon begin the burial arrangement as they urge everyone to respect their decision.
His death came months after he announced his father’s demise, which was on February 13, 2023. A couple of videos were released by his manager, Rasheed dated Tuesday. Rasheed was asked where he had been as Oladips was waiting for him and he told Oladips that he went to get his drugs. Then Oladips told him to take him to the hospital. His management were all heading to the clinic before he took his left breath.
The rapper recently dropped a song, “Die Young” which is now trending after his demise and is currently on his Instagram profile. The song explained how people compete with other people when they are alive and turn around to celebrate them when they are dead. Many are streaming the songs as they pay tribute to the talented rapper. He advocated for justice for the late Mohbad and died leaving his image as his profile photo.
Biography
Oladips was born on March 24, 1995, in Lagos State but a native of Ogun State. He died at age 28 on Tuesday evening, November 14, 2023, and lost his father on February 13, 2023.
He was passionate about rap music and began his musical career at age 17. In 2012, his cover of Drake and Trey Songs music gained massive attention and shot him into the spotlight. Then in 2015, he was on D’Banj’s show, “The King Is Here” where he competed with other top artists and won. Since then, he has been pushing harder and has released several hit rap songs.
In 2016, he was signed to Edge Records(LRR) owned by popular singer, Reminisce. Popular singer, Olamide was supposed to sign him in 2016 but he said he couldn’t have two rap artists which is Chinko Ekun and Oladips on his record label because they sing almost the same style of song.
Some of his hit songs are Lalakukulala, Mainland To Highland, Chache, Ikebesupa, Bounce, She Tells Me Say, Champagne, Oke, Alubarika, Life, Body, And Soul, and Tusi.
Many have often noted that he’s an underrated artist and one of the most promising young rappers around but is not getting enough popularity and attention.
His rap style is a fusion of trap and pop which gives his audience a melodious sound. He’s a realist and reflects on life challenges in his songs. Before his death, he lives in a nice apartment in Lagos and rides a white Mercedes Benz.
