Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba aka Mohbad known for his popular signature, Imole was confirmed dead on Tuesday, September 12, 2023. He passed away at age 27.

The events surrounding his death are sketchy as the cause of his demise is unknown.

His death has triggered worldwide attention with millions of people protesting and seeking justice for the 27-year-old iconic singer.

From Lagos to Ibadan, Niger, Kogi, Ekiti, Abuja, France, Berlin and many other places, supporters and music lovers troop out en masse to burn candles in solidarity with him.

Also, top American and British rappers like Lil Durk, Meek Mill, Central C, and many others have sent condolence messages to the late singer’s family.

Who Is Mohbad Wife

Mohbad is happily married to his long-time girlfriend, Wunmi and blessed with a son.

Celebrities like Tonto Dikeh and Iyabo Ojo have been at the forefront as they mobilize people for protest in Abuja and Lagos respectively.

Celebrities like Davido and Rema have sent huge funds to Mohbad’s son’s account.

Tonto Dike has also promised to sponsor his education through Secondary school and places him on N100,000 monthly.

Iyabo with a couple of celebrities were with Lagos State Commissioner Of Police, Idowu Owohunwa on Wednesday, September 20, 2023, as they discussed issues surrounding his death and swift actions that will lead to the arrest of his killers.

Mohbad Father

Mohbad’s father, Joseph Aloba and mother have also been questioned by the commissioner of police.

Music Producer, K Solo who was outside the police station on Monday, September 18, 2023, said the police didn’t allow them to enter and that his body would be exhumed for autopsy.

However, many social media users alleged that his father knew about his death and that he should be interrogated properly.

His mother, Mrs Aloba has asked the Government to come to her rescue and apprehend her son’s killers.

She added that her son has never been happy since he joined Marlian Music.

However, Lere Olayinka, a media aide to former Ekiti State governor Ayodele Fayose has accused her of abandoning Mohbad and his sister for 15 years only to come back after he passed away and start living in his apartment in Lekki and receiving condolence messages.

The speculations about his father’s alleged involvement in this case stirred controversy because he buried him the following day after his death on Tuesday, September 12, 2023.

Many weren’t pleased with how he approached the matter and didn’t like how he brought up irrelevant issues of how Mohbad doesn’t listen to him and several trivial issues that aren’t related to his death.

Joseph Aloba cleared the air on why he buried his son the next day.

He said according to Yoruba culture, it’s not right to keep the dead body of a child when his or her parents are still alive so that was why he buried him immediately after his death. Click here for Nollywood gists

He also said he buried him on the land he gave him to build a church.

Mohbad was a victim of bullying, oppression, and intimidation.

Many have speculated that he went to perform in Ikorodu and got killed.

Some said the guy wailing and shouting, “Mohbad is dead” in the video that first surfaced online while his lifeless body was in the bus should be arrested for questioning, adding that he should know one or two about his death.

There are also unconfirmed reports that they twisted his neck in his casket.

Going back to the memory lane, many circumstances surrounded his death.

A video has surfaced online where he was crying at the hospital, adding that they gave him something poisonous to drink. He added that Zinoleesky betrayed him while a wound was spotted on the side of his stomach.

Another video that Lagos State Socialite, Sam Larry threatened to kill him surfaced online.

In the video, they stormed his video shoot where he and Zlatan Ibile were performing and destroyed his 5 million Naira equipment while inflicting injury on him.

Following this incident, Mohbad wrote a petition against Sam Larry to the police but it was not treated as a matter of urgency. It was after his death that the petition surfaced online.

However, Sam Larry has come out to say that he’s not responsible for his death.

There are reports that he’s currently hiding in Kenya.

Mohbad’s best friend Bella Shmurda in a January 2023 interview told media personality, Chude Jidenowo that Mohbad almost committed suicide while they were both in her apartment due to his clash with his former record label, Marlian Music.

He added that his girlfriend immediately spotted him beside the window upstairs and raised the alarm. That’s how they were able to avert the unfortunate incident.

In addition, there are reports that Mohbad hasn’t been happy all his life since he kick-started his musical career with Marlian Music.

In 2019, he was signed into Marlian Music and dropped his EP, “Light” featuring artists like Davido.

On October 5, 2022, he was in the news after a domestic violence saga, lamenting that he was being assaulted by his former boss, Naira Marley.

He also bemoans his refusal to change his manager.

His lawyers complained that he hasn’t been paid his royalties and there are allegations that he was boycotted from several shows while he was in the record label.

Mohbad was beaten by Naira Marley’s boys and on live video, Mohbad said everyone should hold Naira Marley responsible if anything happens to him.

The rapper later moved on with his life and established his Record Label, “Imolenization” in November 2022.

All these past occurrences of bullying, intimidation and oppression made fans conclude that Naira Marley and Sam Larry had a hand in his death.

Investigations are still ongoing and the police are working rigorously to apprehend the evildoers.

According to Iyabo Ojo this evening, Wednesday, September 20, 2023, an autopsy will be done and the Nurse who treated him at the hospital has been arrested.
